These original green street name signs are part of our area's heritage - Councillor Craig Gamble Pugh
These original green street name signs are diminishing in number, and need saving.
The signs date back to when much of the East Ecclesfield ward was part of South Wortley Rural District council. This was before boundary changes in the 70’s moved us under Sheffield.
The distinctive green signs are part of the distinct heritage of our area. Unfortunately there is no protection for them and their numbers are diminishing.
Councillor Craig is trying to get these signs protected as heritage assets.
