Craig Gamble Pugh- East Ecclesfield Councillor
"No-one should be going hungry in Britain in the 21st century. We can do better" Craig Gamble Pugh
People in our ward are living in the shadow of hunger and food poverty- that’s a disgrace. Loss of jobs and income due to Covid 19 is leaving people without food or festivities.
Craig Gamble Pugh and our Sheffield Labour MP’s are calling for the Government to end food poverty by investing in national services to ensure that everyone has access to the food they need.
The petition supports the calls of the Child Poverty Taskforce, for government to:
- extend free school meals to all children under 16 with parents on Universal Credit or similar
- provide meals and activities during school holidays and
- expand the Healthy Start scheme, which helps struggling parents by providing nutritious food for their children
